Resident weekends are those programs where you spend the weekend at a retreat house. Your rooms and meals will be provided. Since there are only a few retreat facilities available in the Diocese of Oakland, sometimes it is necessary to use retreat houses in adjacent counties. There are two options available:

Catholic Engaged Encounter Resident Weekend

P.R.E.P. Resident Weekend

Both of these weekend programs:

• begin at 7:00 PM on Friday night and conclude with Mass at approximately 4:30 PM on Sunday.
• give each couple private time to discuss their reflection about the topic presented.
• require that you stay the entire weekend.
• are given by a trained team.
• have about 25 couples attending.

Catholic Engaged Encounter and the Preparation and Reflection for Engaged Partners weekend have very similar content. Each addresses such topics as values, financial goals, sexuality, communication, faith and spirituality, sacrament of matrimony, family of origin, becoming a family, and careers. The difference in the two experiences is in the format and structure. Basically the P.R.E.P. format offers a few more group dynamics.
